These tubes are also child-resistant but easy for any adult to open by applying a squeeze to the top end until they hear a “pop” that indicates it is open. Some brands use our packaging products as biodegradable pharmacy vials or for biodegradable cosmetic packaging.

What Is Biodegradability?

Biodegradability signifies that a product made from organic materials that are able to break down with a combination of external factors such as oxygen, temperature, microorganisms like bacteria, and fungi. When exposed to high temperatures around 300 degrees Fahrenheit, biodegradable products can take a few weeks, months, or years to decompose properly.

Our bioplastic tubes are made with biodegradable raw materials such as cellulose, polylactic acid (PLA), polycaprolactone (PCL), and polyhydroxy butyrate (PHB), which have been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Regular plastic can take hundreds of years to decompose while littered in the streets or packed in growing landfills. Biodegradable paper tubes are another alternative for sustainable packaging; biodegradable cardboard tubes in particular are easy and inexpensive to make, ship, and pack with a wide range of products.

How to Properly Dispose of Biodegradable Tubes

Just as glass tubes and plastic tubes have recycling guidelines, biodegradable vials also need to be correctly disposed of to fulfill their purpose of being environmentally friendly. Here’s a step-by-step process of disposing of these tubes.

1. After the biodegradable tube packaging has served its purpose, it needs to be disposed of in the correct waste bin for biodegradable products. Tip: Check your local trash collection or recycling center guidelines.
2. The party responsible for collecting biodegradable packaging material in your area will transport it to a bio-waste facility or bioreactor landfill. In some cases, end consumers may be responsible for bringing their biodegradable waste to specific facilities.
3. After the material has been properly decomposed, it can be used as renewable energy.

It is essential that bioplastic tubes are not just thrown away in a regular compost pile. Unlike other organic matter, biodegradable vials need high temperatures to decompose properly, which cannot be done in ordinary homes. While biodegradable paper tubes are also a fantastic product, we actually carry recyclable paper tubes instead of biodegradable paper tubes. The recyclable paper tubes can be recycled in regular paper recycling bins!

Once your customers are finished with these tubes, they can clean them out and reuse them for other tube packaging purposes, such as biodegradable prescription vials or biodegradable food packaging, if they aren’t going to or aren’t able to properly dispose of them.
